Field coordinator Borno State (F/M) – Nigeria

Maiduguri, Borno, Nigeria
postuler

Description du poste

For more than 40 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations here and abroad. It has continued to bear witness to obstacles that exist in accessing healthcare and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies.

Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations.

MdM France currently works in 30 countries across all continents to facilitate access to healthcare through 6 political battles:

  • Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights
  • Migration, Exile, Human Rights and Health
  • Harm Reduction
  • Environment and Health
  • Humanitarian Space
  • Healthcare systems and rights

Medecins du Monde (MdM) has been implementing an emergency program in Borno State since 2016, in response to the humanitarian crisis in north-eastern Nigeria, focusing on improving access to Primary Health Care (PHC), treatments of Under-nutrition and for Gender-based Violence (GBV) survivors, and providing Sexual and Reproduction Health (SRH) and Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS) services to beneficiaries.

In Borno, MdM is running 2 clinics in Damboa, and support 2 MoH clinics in Maiduguri and 2 MoH Clinics in Damboa. The implementation strategy is changing from direct substitution to health system strengthening. The health solution integrates PHC, GBV and MHPSS. A large advocacy component is to be deployed at authority and community level. The team is composed of around 120 staff.

The Borno office is supervised by the coordination office in Abuja, also covering the Northwest of Nigeria where MdM started implementation in 2024.
