INTRODUCING MÉDECINS DU MONDE’S INTERNATIONAL NETWORK

Made up of 17 independent civil society organisations, MdM’s Network shares a vision: a world where barriers to health no longer exist and health is recognised as a fundamental right.

Driven by the same values of activism, empowerment, social justice, independence and balance, the Network’s members work together to turn this vision into reality and to achieve a greater impact on the world.

MdM’s international Network is active in 74 countries. The Network has domestic project in 17 countries and international projects in 57 countries.

Accountable and transparent to one another, Médecins du Monde’s organisations work in a complementary spirit and mutual support fashion.

They balance out their policies and practices to improve the quality and coordination of their work, such as expanding their organisational life.

MILITANCY

As members of a worldwide movement of volunteers and employees, we provide medical services, and we bear witness. Boosted by diversity, we help people who are excluded obtain social change.
EMPOWERMENT

We think communities are agents of change in their health journeys. Working side by side, we seek to empower them and help them exercise their rights.
SOCIAL JUSTICE

We believe everyone should have access to healthcare, well-being, justice, privileges and opportunities, regardless of their legal, political, economic and other kinds of status. We believe that social justice is a vector for equal access to healthcare, respect of fundamental rights and solidarity.
INDEPENDENCE

We are independent of authorities, political, religious and financial interests. We are free to choose our programmes and how we operate. We refuse any form of subordination and encourage dialogue with the people and communities we work with.
BALANCE

We strive for balance between our national and international operations, between our emergency and long-term programmes, between medical and layman’s knowledge, between public funds and private donations.
