In the face of emergencies and crises, Médecins du Monde is carrying out various programmes. We are carrying out actions and humanitarian missions in the following countries: Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon.
In Iraq, where war has forced millions of people to leave their homes, our organisation helps displaced populations in accessing care to support local health players.
In Palestine, our teams are helping the populations stricken by years of conflict with Israel. We provide urgent care and psychosocial support with the help of local partners to victims of violent conflicts in Gaza, in the West Bank and in occupied territories.
The war has wreaked havoc for Syrian civilian populations as well. In Syria, we step in to help internally displaced people by providing primary healthcare as well as sexual and reproductive care.
Yemen has been in the grip of a civil war since 2014. Improving access to primary healthcare for Yemenis as well as epidemiologic surveillance is the focus of our action.
Lebanon is the first host country for Syrian refugees, and it is facing major migration issues. We are playing an active role to guarantee the best possible access to care to these populations alongside Lebanese health institutions. The explosion that hit Beirut in August 2020 was a humanitarian emergency, for which we stepped in by providing psychosocial support and mental health consultations to the people affected.
